Arsenal are back in the UEFA Champions League for the first time since the 2016/17 season and looking to have the perfect start against rising club PSV, how will this match fare out?
Yes, it is finally that time of year again, the return of the Uefa Champions League, club football's most prestigious tournament returns and this is setting up to be a very interesting year. Today we will be focusing on the upcoming group B action between Arsenal and Psv which takes place Sept 19 at 3:00PM Eastern.
Arsenal is looking to go far in this year's tournament, after a brilliant year last year, regardless of their slip-up in the Premier League last year that saw them go from what we thought was for sure champions to a cheeky second-place finish, regardless gets them into this year's's Champions League, a step in the right direction for this club.
Arsenal made a couple decent transfers this year which include the likes of Declan Rice from West Ham, Jurrien Timber from Ajax, David Raya on loan from Brentford, and Leandro Trossard from Brighton Hove Albion. I believe these were all important transfers that needed to be made, we saw last year Arsenal missed out on the title due to poor performances in must-win games. Arsenal's poor squad depth could be seen as a reason behind this, and all these transfers help give the team 2-3-star options in all positions.
PSV has also made some brilliant business this past transfer window, signing the likes of Noa Lang from Club Brugge, Hirving Lozano from Napoli, Sergino Dest on loan from Barcelona, Thorgan Hazard on loan from Dortmund, and finally Fabio Silva from Wolves.
These are evidently great signings as PSV have won all 4 games they have played in the Eredivisie this year, but I do not think it is enough to stop Arsenal. They have also made a decent start in a much more competitive league, Arsenal also has lots of history in Europe qualifying on countless occasions, for this reason here at The Footy Corner we think Arsenal will grab the win.
